Spring Motherhood ~ Goddess Celebration

Behind the scenes…

The original concept for our Belly & Baby session was to have a few local ladies model some dresses from our new Complimentary Closet.  Our plan was low-key.

And, then something kind of magical and uplifting happened.

Our dear friend Kelsey, (Willow & Wren’s surrogate auntie!) owner of Salon Muse overheard our planning session while we were getting foiled  a few months ago.  (We, L & L have strategic business discussions travelling to shoots, at hair appointments, and over text!  When there’s two small people in the picture, we have to get creative with our use of time!)

When Kelsey volunteered to do hair for our models, we knew that aspect of the session would be stylin’!

But, then Boss Babe, Kels came up with the next idea, “You should contact Kim from Borrowed & Blue”!  Ya!!!!  When Kim agreed to come on-board, we suddenly had one of the island’s premier Event Planners on the team!

In fact, Kim assumed almost all the planning aspects for us.  This woman is on fire!  Within weeks she had rounded up nine models, and a bevy of creative talents from all over the island.  Including some extra gorgeousness express posted in from Alberta!

We designated Lacey’s home as the base for hair, make-up and wardrobe.  Sunday morning was excellent mayhem beginning just after 8 a.m. and even earlier for all those having to travel!

Nine models, four babes, Willi & Wren, Chloe, make-up artist extraordinaire (our new bestie with the gorgeous eyes & excellent nails), Kelsey, Kim and family coming and going…. Enough food to sink a mid-sized canoe!  Enough coffee to power Parksville for a week (oops, that was not intentional!).

Bespoke Blossoms supplied the fab floral crowns for moms and babes!  LOVLI sent the stunning lace fabric to wrap babes with and drape artistically!

Meanwhile, at Rathtrevor, while the model preparations were happening at the house, there was something excellent happening!  Through the power of Kim’s contacts, Lace and Patina Event Rentals was creating an absolutely huge and breath-taking set.  The number of pieces, attention to detail and pure elegance of their creation, simply overwhelmed us.

Mother Nature cooperated in terms of no rain, but the wind was something fierce!  There were no complaints from mamas and babes, but it was not the soft, spring afternoon we had hoped for (and the Weather Network had predicted)!

Regardless of the cold gusts, during all the hours we spent together, there was some sweet bonding.

Babies passed around for cuddles while mamas tried on gowns.  Motherhood tips and tricks shared.  Giggles from the home team W&W who were so intrigued by all the visitors.  Wren especially seemed to love all the babies so much that she decided that they all needed a little gentle poke or two!  Oh Wren…

One beautiful mama is expecting her third, other ladies were on the first or second wee one.  Which means we owe a huge shout-out to some excellent dad’s who spent that Sunday with the sibs ♥

At the end of an exhausting day, we were elated.

Spring is here, and this seemed like the perfect time to celebrate new life.

The gathering of uber-talented Vancouver Island vendors was not purposefully female vendors only, but we admit, that it was a fitting group.

To witness all these women (models and business owners), most of them strangers, come together to celebrate motherhood was nothing less than humbling for us.  Lucky babes to be coming into this world with these mamas to fiercely love and guard you.

We laughed, we hugged, we all fell a little in love.

And, yes, for those of you wondering these are all gowns that we have available for you, our beautiful clients.

Yes, this might become an annual session, cause it was just that incredible.

Blessings and gratitude to all.
