A little bit about us, in case you were wondering who you'll be spending your time with!
EARLY DAYS
Lisa began shooting 25 years ago. In addition to her regular employment, she was writing for various magazines; Canadian Living, BC Outdoors, Canadian Yachting and RV Lifestyles {to name just a few}. As she built her writing portfolio, editors began requesting photo support for her articles. It was the beginning of a new career!
From nature photos taken for personal pleasure & publication to portrait-taker, Lisa's journey into photography began; eventually becoming a full-time pursuit and her true calling.
This family tradition began many {many} years ago.
Papa, Lisa’s Latvian grandfather, had a dream while he was in his youth in Europe. Together, Janis & Betija fulfilled that dream by building one of western Canada’s first color photography studios.
YOU COULD SAY THAT PHOTOGRAPHY IS IN THEIR GENES.
Lacey, Lisa's youngest daughter began shooting with Lisa upon completion of her university studies in Nanaimo. For over a decade they grew Island Moments together.
Rewarding their passion for weddings and portrait shoots, they have been honored by numerous awards, countless publications and eventually requests to provide educational opportunities for other photographers. As a result, they were inspired to begin the Wanderlust Workshop Series. To date they have hosted multi-day workshops across the island from Tofino to Fanny Bay, and of course, in their own lil Nanoose, as well as numerous content sessions for colleagues from SK, AB and BC!
2026 {a year of change}
Lacey and her family have made the momentous decision to leave the island. Nathan, Lacey's hubby, has worked away for most of their marriage - and they are {more than} ready to be spending more time as a family unit!
Lisa has loved the teamwork aspect of shooting & working with a partner. As Lacey and her family slowly make the transition out of BC, the newest member of our team - Sierra - has been fast tracking into the business.
If that's our career life, who are we away from work?
Lisa and her hubby, Andre have a 35 year love story together.
They adore all their kids, their partners and five grandbabies. They were absolutely guilty of spoiling their old Chessie dog, Skeena and now the new pup on the block-Nootka is receiving a whole lotta love!
Andre & Lisa spend their free time fishing, cruising and camping. Lisa’s other passion is her garden and their recently built greenhouse. It was a bigger project then they expected, but after many hours of work it is def her happy place {it also explains why she’s usually a little bit dirty and never has a manicure - no judgment, please!}.
Lacey is a devoted wife to Nathan, her high-school sweetheart. She is Mama to three gorgeous girls {nope, we’re not biased!}, Willow Wilde, Wren Rose and Wynter West.
Dog mama to their beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Grizz, who crossed the rainbow bridge in 2025.
Lace & Nate and the girls are ready for their next adventure together! And, we know it's going to be an incredible one :)
So, just who is Sierra? Well, here's some information about our newest team member!
When she's not in front of her laptop or behind the lens, you'll find Sierra at the beach or in the forest with her husband AJ, and their two darling wildlings Westley and Theodore. After years of AJ's employment near Tofino, Sierra and AJ love & know the westside extremely well!
Sierra has always had a passion for shooting photos of their family adventures in gorgeous natural settings. With the arrival of their sweet boys, her passion grew as she focused on using photography to immortalize the beautiful, and the messy ;) moments of their childhood.
Sierra has over eight years experience in the wedding industry in event coordinating, as well as decor and florals. She's spent countless hours at many of Vancouver Island's most beautiful venues and has collaborated with many of the wedding professionals we coordinate with on a regular basis.
Fun fact? We first met Sierra when she booked us to capture their wedding photos. Between their engagement sesh and wedding day, Sierra became the Wedding Coordinator at Tigh-Na-Mara {one of our fave venues!}. Sierra and her family have been in our lives for many years. First, as clients, then as a professional colleague in the industry, as dear friends, and now as a the newest, valued member of Island Moments.

And, since we’re getting personal now; we want you to know that we know a photo session can sometimes be a little stressful.
What to wear? Will the kids be good? Is this going to be hard? Because your {insert your person here} hates having their photo taken!
Don’t worry! Because we’re moms and wives too, we understand!
Our dogs don’t always sit. Okay, they often don’t sit ;) Lacey’s three girlies move fast, as do Sierra's sweet twosome! Our husbands pose for us because we bribe them! What we’re saying is; we understand your potential concerns because we’ve experienced them too :) During your time with us we want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. We’ll have fun and promise to capture beautiful images of your precious loves while we’re together!
