It’s Wedding Day. The first day of the rest of your life with your beloved.
Regardless of how excited you are. How prepared you may be, it’s completely natural to have some nerves on the morning of your wedding.
We have spent time with hundreds of couples, and here are a few tips that we hope will help your day go just a little smoother.
It’s the little things, like feeling good. But feeling good is actually a big thing on your day! Eat protein and stay hydrated. Drinking enough water will help keep any headaches at bay. If it’s a summer celebration – July, August, September brides – staying hydrated is critical. We have actually seen some members of the bridal party – FAINT – from the heat!
Schedule your hair & make-up to take place before your attendants! We’ve seen it countless times, especially with larger bridal parties. The bride is the last one in the chair. The countdown to the ceremony is imminent, and she still hasn’t had any of her bride portraits, family moments or other important memories captured (First Look with Dad) take place! To avoid this situation, we suggest that the bride has her styling near the beginning of the morning.
If you are in the stylist’s chair until the last moment, there is just no time to enjoy the experience of peacefully slipping into your gown or capturing those last moments before rushing out the door. A suggested styling timeline – first, family members, then the bride, and bridal party at the end. This way you’re ready for formals, putting on your gown, portraits with family, first looks, private vows, etc. If necessary, your stylist can perform a few touch-ups immediately before the ceremony.
You’ve spent a year or more preparing for this day. We know you have treasures that should be immortalized. Having all your items collected and in place before your photog’s arrive saves valuable time during this portion of your itinerary. If you have a special container for them, that’s wonderful and we’ll include it in the photos! We’ve seen keepsake boxes crafted by the groom or family members prepared for your treasures. Or have everything in a Sephora bag ready to hand to us 😉 We’re not fussy, but we do love being efficient with our time on your day ♥
Details you may want to include? Your bouquet, rings, invites, love letters, jewelry, sentimental pieces such as lockets, shoes, make-up and even your favorite perfume. Think fabulously feminine. After all, if you can’t revel in all the pretty on your wedding day morning, when can you?
It does not need to be personalized {although it’s a lovely touch}, a wooden hanger for your dress and veil. The plastic hangers generally provided with your gown are just not as aesthetically pleasing for these portraits.
Have a morning playlist – there’s nothing like your favorite tunes to set the mood!
If you indulged in lingerie; consider taking the time for a bridal boudoir portrait. It won’t take long, and the memory of how you felt in that moment will be captured forever.
Ensure that at least one room {preferably with the best natural light} is prepared for your portraits.
